Your Mission

Your mission as a Compounder/Blender is to be responsible for operating the shredders and grinders that process industrial plastic. In completion of these recycling tasks, the machinery must be prepped, continuously fed material, and cleaned safely.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately weigh out ingredients into buckets according to the formulation being run.

  • Run the panel that operates all the compounding equipment while in production.

  • Fill ingredient hoppers, assure proper resin weight as well as proper level of stabilizer. Assure the resin silos in compounding are being filled from the railcar.

  • Restock ingredients as they run out and assure the resin compartment on the railcar is not empty.

  • Package, strap, tag and put into storage when compounding into boxes.

  • Track the lot numbers of all minor ingredients as these are used and fill out a production report.

  • Keep work areas swept and empty the garbage bin after every shift.

  • Wear proper PPE, according to the code of practice and proper maintenance of the PPE.

  • Communicate any issues that come up with the lead hand or supervisor.

Qualifications

  • WHMIS certification.

  • Forklift operator's license.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Conditions

  • The blender is required to stand and walk on concrete flooring.

  • The blender may be required to reach, lift and carry 35 lbs to 50 lbs, conontinous lifting.

  • Comfortable working on multiple levels (heights)

  • Use machinery/assistance from another team member to move anything over 50 lbs.

  • The blender will occasionally climb, balance, stoop and kneel, crouch or crawl.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment 

  • The blender is regularly exposed to sustained loud noise (PPE is provided), moving mechanical parts, extremes of temperatures (cold in winter, heat/humidity in summer).  The team member is occasionally exposed to wet and /or humid conditions, frequently exposed to airborne particles, and fumes, rarely to toxic or caustic chemicals.
