David Wood

David Wood has extensive work experience in the banking and risk management industry. David started their career at Deloitte as a Senior Auditor, specializing in Technology Risk Consulting. After completing a Masters in IT Security, they conducted IT environment reviews for various financial sector firms.

In 2004, they joined Lloyds Banking Group (formerly HBOS) as a Senior Manager in Internal Audit. David developed a deep understanding of retail operations, led teams of junior auditors, and pioneered the audit's review of the model development process. This led to a move into HBOS's Model Review function, where they established a Model Governance environment in compliance with Basel II requirements. David held this role until 2012.

David then joined TSB Bank as the Senior Manager of Model Governance and Risk Strategy. David built the TSB Model Governance Framework and second line model review team, contributing to TSB's Secured and Unsecured IRB permissions approval.

Following this, David served as the Head of Enterprise Risk Management, where they supported the Chief Risk Officer in redesigning the Risk Management Framework. David established a Risk Appetite Framework and recalibrated the TSB Risk Appetite Statement, resulting in a more concise, balanced risk appetite with robust thresholds.

David then took on the role of Head of Solvency Risk Oversight, leading the Financial and Credit Risk Oversight team. David provided oversight of key strategic deliverables such as TSB's strategy, ICAAP, ILAAP, and Pillar 3 Disclosures. David also conducted risk-based assessment of compliance with credit and financial regulations.

Currently, David is the Head of Enterprise Risk Management and Credit Risk Oversight at TSB Bank. David leads a team in delivering continuous improvement to the Risk Management Framework, ensuring it meets regulatory requirements and aligns with TSB's strategic goals. David also presents the RMF and associated messaging in key internal and external reporting.

David Wood completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Organisational Behaviour, Influence, Accounting, Finance, Credit Risk Management, and Economics at the Edinburgh Business School from 2010 to 2017. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in IT Security from the University of Westminster, which they attended from 2002 to 2004. Their undergraduate studies were conducted at The University of Sheffield, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English Literature (British and Commonwealth) from 1996 to 1999.
