Director, Technology at Tulsa Remote

Richard Mitchell is the Director of Technology at Tulsa Remote, a position they have held for 3 years and 10 months. Prior to that, they were the Operations Manager and Project Lead at the Tulsa Community Foundation. There, they worked on behalf of the George Kaiser Family Foundation to survey the coding education landscape in Tulsa with the end goal of improving and empowering Tulsa's workforce to fill the demanding roles of the city's growing tech industry. Richard also strived to create an active and successful software development community in Tulsa by partnering with local groups to create and organize tech industry events and workshops, and to further STEM education efforts in Tulsa. In addition, Richard was in charge of organizing the XPO Game Festival, Tulsa's annual convention celebrating video and tabletop games, and giving regional game developers a chance to showcase their talents on a national stage. Richard was responsible for organizing all content, including arrangements for speakers, independent developers from around the world and university outreach.

Before their work at the Tulsa Community Foundation, Richard was the Project Lead at Guthrie Green where they were responsible for securing content for XPO and helped organize Blue Whale Comedy Festival. Richard also organized all content and secured sponsors for the Virtual Reality room at the 2016 Tulsa Overground Film and Music Festival.

Richard's experience also includes 7 months as Content Manager at VisitTulsa, division of the Tulsa Regional Chamber.

Richard Mitchell graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2005 with a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre. Richard was a National Merit Scholar and a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Richard appeared in multiple OU School of Drama productions and achieved a 3.95 GPA, graduating with special distinction.
