We’re looking for an experienced QA Director to lead our quality assurance team and build out a network of third party QA vendors.

As a QA Director, you will own skills development, quality metrics progression, and refining quality strategies for Turtle Rock Studios QA team as well as be responsible for evaluation, negotiating with and managing a network of QA vendors for upcoming projects. We are a collaborative team that succeeds in doing great work because every piece matters. As a leader, you will be expected to get organizational buy-in across multiple levels to be successful.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the QA team for various stages of projects
  • Work closely with the Executive Producer on initiatives for improving internal processes and creating long term plans including QA staffing and project planning
  • Establish a clear vision for QA while guiding the team in developing QA framework and standards, finalizing a set of best practices, QA tools, and presenting quality metrics to stakeholders regularly
  • Identify, recruit, interview, and hire QA team members to help teams scale effectively in collaboration with QA Leads
  • Work closely with Production to determine feature feasibility 
  • Provide clear, informative metrics to the leadership team to help assess project health and  empower teams to be held accountable for upholding quality and player impact as an essential factor in decision-making
  • Run a full RFP process with various QA vendors to establish a network of third party QA studios to assist in large scale testing, including for localization and certification
  • Provide regular direction, mentoring, and coaching to QA team members, creating a center of reliability & excellence with a culture of continuous improvement

Requirements

  • 10+ years of video game industry Quality Assurance experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • 4+ years managing QA professionals, including team leads
  • Managed QA process for 1st party certification for 1 or more AAA games
  • Desire to foster a positive growth environment for the QA team ensuring their voices are heard and helping them reach their full potential
  • Experience managing external QA teams and remote testing teams
  • Experience shipping games on multiple platforms
  • Experience creating and driving innovative quality processes and best practices with a focus on scalable solutions
  • Solid understanding of test methodologies including automation, functional, qualitative, and performance against consistent iterative development
  • Strong technical skills, both functional and non-functional, manual and automation, with the ability to contribute in day-to-day efforts when needed
  • Experience with JIRA
  • Experience with Confluence

Preferences

  • Experience supporting a live game with a regular patch cadence
  • Experience working with Unreal Engine 4 or other Game Engines

The estimated base pay range for this role is: $125,000 - $175,000 USD
