Alex Fafard

Principal Computer Vision Research Scientist at Two Six Technologies

Alex Fafard, Ph.D., has a diverse work experience in the field of computer vision and imaging science. Starting in 2014, Alex worked as an Undergraduate Fire Researcher at the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science at RIT. From there, they served as an Undergraduate Research Assistant, Undergraduate Teaching Assistant, and Field Work Research Assistant at Rochester Institute of Technology.

In 2015, Alex had various roles, including being a Student Researcher at Wolfram, where they conducted research on classification of airborne RGB scenes using artificial neural networks. Alex also worked as an Imaging Science Engineering Intern at Riverside Research, developing an image processing pipeline for skin classification and identification in multi-spectral imagery.

Moving forward, Alex joined the Integrated Neuro Imaging (INI) Lab at RIT as a Medical Signal Processing Research Assistant, quantifying neural cortical asymmetry using imaging modalities. Alex then worked as a Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant at Rochester Institute of Technology, where they created simulations and taught Radiometry.

In 2017, Alex became a Doctoral Research Fellow at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where they focused on research projects related to global satellite surveillance. Alex then worked as an Imaging Scientist at L3Harris Technologies, before joining SafelyYou in 2021 as a Senior Computer Vision Scientist. At SafelyYou, Alex served as a tech lead and subject matter expert in computer vision and image physics, working on AI and computer vision features for dementia and Alzheimer’s care.

Currently, Alex is working as the Lead Computer Vision Research Scientist at Two Six Technologies, starting in 2022.

Alex Fafard, Ph.D. obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Imaging Science from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2016. Subsequently, they pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Imaging Science at the same university from 2016 to 2020.
