Ian McGinley

Ian McGinley serves as the Director of the Division of Enforcement at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission since February 2023. Prior roles include Partner at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP from September 2021 to February 2023 and Assistant United States Attorney, Unit Chief, in the Southern District of New York from January 2011 to September 2021. Ian also worked as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Gene E.K. Pratter at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania from September 2009 to September 2010 and served as an Associate Attorney at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP from September 2006 to August 2009. Educational qualifications include a Master in Public Policy in International Security Policy from Harvard Kennedy School, a Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law, a Master of Science in Philosophy from The London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Georgetown University.
