Katy Dermady, GBDS

Katy Dermady has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Katy began their career as a Part Time Assistant Manager at Pacific Sunwear, where they gained experience in task delegation, financial management, and customer service. Katy then worked as a Human Resources Intern at TripleTrack HR Partners, where they created job descriptions, participated in hiring processes, and recruited potential employees at career fairs. Katy also served as a Practice Interviewer at the University at Buffalo, conducting mock interviews and providing feedback to students. Katy later interned as a Claims Intern at Merchants Insurance Group, updating the claims classification system. Katy then joined P.F. Chang's China Bistro as a Waitress and Take Out Specialist, focusing on guest satisfaction and training new staff members. Katy transitioned into the insurance industry as the Manager of Benefits Administration at Amherst Chamber of Commerce, obtaining their NYS Life/Accident/Health Insurance license and implementing processes for insurance renewals. Katy then worked as an Account Management Associate at BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York, followed by an Account Manager II position at Paychex. Currently, they are an Account Manager at U.S. Employee Benefits Services Group, where they work with school districts to ensure that offered benefits align with union agreements. Overall, Katy has gained expertise in various aspects of account management, human resources, customer service, and insurance.

Katy Dermady, GBDS, completed their education at the University at Buffalo School of Management, The State University of New York, from 2008 to 2012. Katy obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration- Human Resources during this time. Prior to that, from 2004 to 2008, they attended Lancaster Central High School for their high school education.

In terms of additional certifications, Katy obtained a GBDS (Group Benefits Disability Specialist) certification from the National Underwriter Company in August 2020. Katy also became Medicare Certified through America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) in September 2019. Additionally, they achieved a Life/Accident/Health Insurance Certification in May 2014, although the institution where they obtained this certification is not specified. More recently, in March 2023, Katy obtained a Certificate in self-funding group health plans from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans (IFEBP).
