Tia Metzger has extensive work experience in various roles. Tia is currently serving as the Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships at the U.S. Green Building Council since March 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Manager of Content & Programs from August 2019 to June 2022, where they were responsible for strategic programming and educational content processes. Tia also worked as a Content Project Manager from March 2018 to June 2022, identifying and curating market-based topics and educational opportunities. Before joining the U.S. Green Building Council, Tia worked at the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) from 2011 to 2016. Their roles at ARVO included Program Manager, Membership and Outreach, and Meetings and Education Coordinator. Tia's earliest work experience was as a Team Assistant at the University of Maryland University College from 2006 to 2009, where they provided assistance to students and professors, worked on marketing and database management, and facilitated onsite events.
Tia Metzger obtained a Master's Degree in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from the University of Baltimore from 2014 to 2016. Tia also earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Criminalistics and Criminal Science; Sociology from the University of Maryland between 2005 and 2009. In terms of additional certifications, Tia became a LEED Green Associate certified by the U.S. Green Building Council in 2020. Tia also obtained the Sustainable Event Professional certification from Sustainable Brands in 2018 and became a TRUE Advisor certified by the U.S. Green Building Council in February 2018.
