Winy Vasquez

Winy Vasquez is a dedicated PhD student at the University of British Columbia, focusing on research related to the right to food in protected areas of the Peruvian Amazon. Previously, Winy undertook a Master's degree in Forestry and has held various positions, including Laboratory Technician at Michael Smith Laboratories, contributing to the development of a genotyping tool for weevil resistance, and Research Assistant at UBC Faculty of Forestry, where a literature review on food security was co-authored. Winy's experience also includes a role as a Queen Elizabeth Scholar at the Wildlife Institute of India and multiple internships in the field of forestry and pathology, demonstrating a strong foundation in laboratory techniques and project management. The courses completed encompass areas such as International Nutrition, Food Security, Indigenous Inquiry, and Leadership and Sustainability.
