Excavation and Containment Lead at UC Santa Barbara

Jefferson Cam is currently the Excavation and Containment Lead at UC Santa Barbara. Prior to this, they were the Lead Designer for a UCSB Senior Capstone Project where they designed a novel bucket drum regolith excavation system for Venturi Astrolab Inc. Jefferson is also a previous Research Assistant for the UCSB Soft Robotics Lab (Hawkes Group) where they assisted upper division students with the design of a soft robotic gripper arm utilizing synthetic setae. Jefferson's experience with CAD software, vacuum chambers, and stress analysis make him an invaluable asset to any team.

Jefferson Cam graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Jefferson then attended the UCLA Anderson School of Management and received a certification in Technology Leadership. Jefferson also has certifications from Dassault Systèmes in Certified SOLIDWORKS Associate and Certified SOLIDWORKS Professional.

They work with Kyle Ivey - Lunar Environment Expert, Ken Kuboshima - Design and Analysis Lead, and Alexis Frias - Excavation and Containment Lead. Their manager is Sebastian Vargas, Chief of Operations.
