Didier Bouvy

Didier Bouvy has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry, primarily with UCB and UCB Pharma. Didier started their career in 1995 as a Research Assistant at Université catholique de Louvain, where they focused on synthesizing new acrylic derivatives and evaluating the properties and reactivity of the resulting polymers.

Bouvy joined UCB Pharma in 1995 as a CPC Manager in the Chemical Development department. In this role, they managed the Chemical Process Control laboratory and was involved in analyzing and troubleshooting process issues in production. Didier also played a role in the development and validation of new analytical methods.

In 1997, Bouvy transitioned to the position of Team Leader in Chemical Process R&D at UCB Pharma. Here, they coordinated route selection and process research activities to develop viable processes for drug candidates. Didier was responsible for optimizing processes at the laboratory scale, conducting pilot scale demonstrations and validations, and supervising the production of laboratory and pilot batches for toxicology, clinical trials, and pharmaceutical development studies.

In 2002, Bouvy was promoted to Associate Director (and previously Group Leader) of Chemical Process Development & Industrialization at UCB Pharma. In this role, they managed route selection and process research activities to identify and develop industrially viable processes for new drug candidates in the UCB Pharma portfolio. Didier also oversaw the production of laboratory and pilot batches for use in clinical trials and pharmaceutical development studies.

Bouvy continued their career at UCB, holding positions as Director of External Partnership Management and Director of CMC Sourcing Lead for NCE. In these roles, they managed external activities related to DS and DP development activities, including process R&D and toll manufacturing. Didier was involved in managing an external network of partners, selecting strategic partners, and organizing on-site visits and audits.

Overall, Didier Bouvy has a strong background in chemical process development, process control, and external partnership management in the pharmaceutical industry.

Didier Bouvy earned a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the Université catholique de Louvain from 1988 to 1993, under the guidance of Professor H.G. VIEHE.
