Roger Wakimoto

Vice Chancellor, Research at UCLA

Roger Wakimoto is currently the Vice Chancellor, Research at UCLA. Roger has previously served as the Assistant Director, Geosciences at the National Science Foundation from February 2013 to February 2017. Prior to that, they were the Director at NCAR from February 2010 to February 2013. From July 2005 to January 2010, they served as the Director of EOL at NCAR. Roger has been a Professor at UCLA since July 1983.

Roger Wakimoto began their educational career by earning a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from San Jose State University. Roger then went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy in Geophysical Sciences from the University of Chicago.

Roger Wakimoto reports to Gene Block, Chancellor. They work with Ina Bryant - Interim Vice Chancellor, Legal Affairs, Yolanda J. Gorman - Senior Advisor to the Chancellor and Chief of Staff, and Rhea Turteltaub - Vice Chancellor, External Affairs.
