Laura Olivas has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Laura currently holds the position of People Relations Director at the UFW Foundation since April 2023. Previously, they served as the BIPOC Network Leader at B Lab U.S. & Canada starting in January 2022. From 2019 to May 2023, they ran their own consulting firm, Laura Olivas Consulting, where they provided operational, financial, and program development services to nonprofit and small business clients, as well as talent acquisition for nonprofit roles. Prior to that, Laura held positions such as Senior Manager, Talent & Organizational Operations and Manager of Community Projects at Mission Driven Finance, Associate Director of Operations at Hispanics Organized for Political Equality (HOPE), Mission Promise Neighborhood Leadership Program Manager at Mission Economic Development Agency, Operations and Grants Manager at Latino Community Foundation, and Special Projects Fellow at Hispanics in Philanthropy. Laura also worked as the Director at Berkeley Community Scholars and Marketing Specialist at Wachovia.
Laura Olivas has a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Legal Studies from the University of California, Berkeley. Laura also completed the Leadership for Equity & Opportunity (LEO) program from Rise Together in 2017. Additionally, Laura Olivas participated in the HIP Líderes Fellowship (formerly, Next Generation Latino Philanthropy Leadership Program) offered by Hispanics in Philanthropy in the same year. In 2015, they attended the HOPE Leadership Institute conducted by HOPE (Hispanas Organized for Political Equality). Furthermore, Laura Olivas obtained a Certificate of Completion in Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management from the Multicultural Board Leadership Academy in 2014.
