UGE develops, owns, and operates community and commercial solar and energy storage projects in the United States. With over a decade of experience in the industry, we are on the front lines, working to accelerate the transition to clean, reliable energy.

UGE is growing quickly, and we are excited to be seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our project origination team as an Origination Manager.

The Origination Manager will be focused on identifying and securing project opportunities to develop distributed solar and energy storage projects, typically ranging in size from 2MWac to 5MWac, primarily in Illinois and Michigan, with additional Midwest opportunities evaluated on an as-needed basis.  The candidate will establish and grow origination channels, forming relationships with businesses and property owners, securing sites for project development.

Project development is multidisciplinary, requiring a diverse skill set.  The ideal candidate will excel in building relationships with property owners and real estate professionals be able to evaluate and assess feasibility for installations on vacant land, and secure development rights on behalf of UGE.  The ideal candidate would be located in Illinois or Michigan, and the role is fully remote with travel to UGE’s offices on an as-needed basis.

Reporting Relationships

The Origination Manager will report to the MD of Origination and Power Marketing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategy for originating, qualifying, and securing site control of , rooftops, and carports in target markets assigned by the MD of Origination and Power Marketing
  • Leverage team and available resources to identify and prioritize highest value sites for development
  • Engage with property owners and referral agents to negotiate and execute site control agreements, including leases and options to lease
  • Form and maintain relationships with property owners and real estate professionals
  • Record activity and progress consistent with UGE’s CRM practices

Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in a role with transferrable knowledge and skills (renewable energy, corporate partnerships, real estate, sales, land leasing, etc.)
  • Demonstrated business acumen, including relationship building and negotiating
  • Ability to analyze information, interpret data, and solve practical problems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to prioritize workload
  • Self-starter who is driven to consistently meet and exceed targets
  • Willingness to travel within the region as required
