Lilian van Zyl has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Lilian began their career as a Graphic Designer at Fresh Identity and later worked as a Brand and Advertising Designer at Arctic Circle. Lilian then joined e.tv as a Brand and Marketing Designer. Lilian's experience in design and marketing led their to moneysmart, where they worked on creating an infographic on bank charges and developed the first user-friendly visual credit report. Lilian later joined Absa Group's mobile development division, Aliens, as a User Experience and Interface Designer. At Standard Bank Group, Lilian worked on customer research, brand development, and service design for Edge Banking, a proposition for entrepreneurs and accountants. Following this, they joined Scouta as a Human Experience Gardien, empowering South African youth with career advice and soft skill training. Lilian then took on contract work at Futureworld, where they were responsible for designing pitches, reports, brand and marketing materials, and conducting customer research and user experience design for clients like VATglobal and The South African Reserve Bank. Currently, they serve as a Lead UI/UX Design and Customer Researcher at UKheshe Technologies. In 2013, Lilian founded ThinkVisually.co, a freelance UX research and service design network that collaborates on innovative projects with clients, assisting in requirements gathering, managing project milestones, and incorporating customer testing and feedback.
Lilian van Zyl attended Stellenbosch University from 2002 to 2005, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Design. Additionally, they completed an Introduction to Design Thinking program at the Hasso Platter School of Design Thinking at UCT.
