Louise Funke

Scientist at Umami Meats

Louise is a Scientist on the media development team at Umami Meats.

Louise is from Germany and recently completed her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology at the University of Cambridge, where she used genetic engineering and whole genome synthesis to create a bacterium with an altered genetic code.

Louise is passionate about sustainability and conservation. During her undergraduate studies, she engineered plants to degrade micro-pollutants from wastewater with a team from the Technical University Munich and placed second overall with this water filter in iGEM, the biggest international synthetic biology competition in the world.
