Job Summary Overall accountability of design craft for your studio including: consistent quality of project delivery, culture, community engagement, cross-craft collaboration, continual skills development, recruiting, mentoring, performance management, and compensation.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities At Umbrage, we think great designers originates from different professional backgrounds and have diverse skill sets, but consistent with all Umbrage designers, is their ability to facilitate creative thinking and to communicate technical details to a broad audience. Umbrage Vice Presidents of Design, have experiences, attitudes, and aptitudes that include:

Leadership ·       Leading a culture of collaboration, constructive feedback, and transparency across crafts, your peers, and with leadership. ·       You represent value, priorities and needs of our Design Craft both internally and externally. ·       You ensure our Design Team is consistently adding value and contributing to firm growth goals. ·       Overall accountability of design craft for your studio including craft delivery in projects, culture, community engagement, cross-craft collaboration, continual skills development, recruiting, mentoring, performance management, and compensation. ·       Creating studio strategies that align to global growth strategies & objectives and accountability of initiatives to achieve set objectives. ·       Deep understanding of the market and can speak to our clients and industry groups about our company, content, craft, emerging trends, etc. ·       You may participate in defining the business strategy and financial plan for the Umbrage Design Craft. ·       You may participate in defining the business strategy and financial plan for the Umbrage Design Craft. ·       You tackle special projects assigned by studio leadership. ·       Identify and participate in the development of new offerings. ·       You understand, represent, and enhance the Umbrage brand. ·       You model acceptable standards of behavior and support and enhance the culture of Umbrage. ·       Leading in the community through speaking engagements and publishing of mediaon behalf of Umbrage.   Client Management ·       Responsible for overall project governance on assigned key projects, ensuring project team and client feel supported. ·       You are the go-to escalation point across project teams and clients as needed in your studio. ·       You speak thoughtfully and confidently with the client, simultaneously representing both our studio’s best interests and the client’s best interests in our joint endeavors. ·       You cultivate positive relationships of mutual respect with clients. ·       Regularly monitor major project milestones, swiftly identifying and addressing any potential risks, roadblocks, or deviations from the plan. ·       You identify new sales opportunities for the studio by listening attentively to client asks, carefully analyzing business and project goals. ·       Leading design points of view, proposal creation, pitching proposals to clients, and relationship management & development across client accounts.   Qualifications   Education You have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in interaction design, experience design or related field (e.g., information design, graphic design or human factors) or the equivalent experience.   Experience ·       You have built successful design teams known for delivering high quality experiences. ·       You have experience managing design projects that are on-time, on-spec, and on-budget. ·       You are an expert at bringing digital products to life and delivering complex design projects. ·       You have mastery of design principles, research methodologies, design processes, experience design foundations, and digital best practices. ·       You have a strong visual design sense, command over typography, interaction design and usability.   Skill Requirements ·       Ability to learn new software quickly; experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe ·       Creative Suite, Figma, Miro, Confluence, and/or JIRA. ·       Knowledge of and experience with applying user-centered design processes. ·       Understanding of areas of specialization within the greater design landscape, including but not limited to Design Research, Visual Design, and Content Design. ·       Understand of general business principles including pipeline forecasting and budget management.  

Physical Demands and Work Environment Design positions require the ability to routinely sit; stand; walk; talk and hear; use a keyboard; stoop; twist; reach; lift; bend; and travel to clients’ offices.
