Darlene Pennington-Johnson

Darlene Pennington-Johnson, M.A., serves as the Export Control Officer and Director of the Export Control Program at the University of Michigan since July 2021, following a decade-long tenure at Wayne State University as Export Control Compliance Administrator/Coordinator. With extensive experience in establishing and maintaining export control compliance policies and procedures, Darlene provides strategic consultation to university faculty, staff, and administration regarding export compliance matters, while ensuring adherence to ITAR, EAR, and OFAC regulations. Additionally, Darlene has lectured on export controls for graduate students and possesses a solid background in legal support roles as a paralegal, underpinned by advanced degrees in Business and Organizational Anthropology from Wayne State University and a Certified Paralegal credential with honors from the National Academy of Paralegal Studies.
