Whitney Tennant is an experienced professional with a diverse background in technology and software development. Whitney currently serves as the Head of Programmes at Umuzi.org, a non-profit organization focused on providing scalable digital skills to students. In this role, they are responsible for enhancing organizational efficiency, managing concurrent projects, and improving course content and delivery.

Prior to their current role, Whitney was the Chief Technology Officer at Brave Orbit, a sustainability-oriented software development agency. Whitney founded and led the agency, with a specific focus on building technical apps for organizations in the impact and medical tech space. Whitney successfully led a team of engineers in rebuilding the cross-platform app for Vula Mobile, resulting in a more efficient and user-friendly application.

Whitney also served as the Chief Technology Officer at NOOSi Health, where they led the development of an innovative Electronic Health Record (EHR) platform for professional nurses. Whitney managed a development team provided by Brave Orbit and played a key role in defining system requirements and designing the initial platform.

In addition to their roles as a CTO, Whitney has also worked as a Technical Advisor at Akro Accelerate, providing expert technical consulting to various startups and designing custom software to run remote programs. Whitney was invited to be a core team member of the SA SME-backed accelerator.

Earlier in their career, Whitney worked as an Engineering Manager at VIPERdev, where they managed and scaled a rapidly growing remote tech team. Whitney also served as the CTO at Ambition In Motion, leading the development and management of the MVP build of a mentoring app. Whitney started their career as a Software Developer at Superbalist.com, working on backend development and improving search functionality and customer experience through the development of a search term ranking and management tool.

Whitney's experience also includes positions as a Software Developer at Double Eye and Farmsecure Technologies, where they specialized in Python development and automation of GIS calculations for large farm datasets.

Throughout their career, Whitney has demonstrated expertise in project management, software development, team leadership, and technical resource management. Whitney is skilled in various programming languages and technologies, including Python, PHP, Flutter, and Docker.

Whitney Tennant studied at the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika from 2012 to 2014, pursuing a degree in Computer Science. However, the degree remained incomplete.
