Laura Bakalka

Laura Bakalka has a diverse work experience in the field of graphic design and communication. Laura started as a Freelance Graphic Designer in 2014 and worked in this role until 2022. In 2018, they became an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at the American University in Dubai, where they worked until May 2023. In May 2023, they joined Acquaint Communications as an Art Director and later in October 2023, they started working as a Design & Communication Lead at UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme). Throughout their career, Laura has also taken on various speaking engagements and mentoring roles in universities and conferences.

Laura Bakalka completed a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design from Dar Al-Hekma University from 2009 to 2014. Laura then pursued a Master's Degree in Advertising, Branding, and Communication from the University of West London from 2016 to 2017. In 2021, they attended the Harvard Institute for Higher Education for a Professional Education Course Certificate in Strategies for Higher Ed Teaching and Learning. Laura also holds additional certifications, including being a Technical Expert in AEIC's Start-up Entrepreneurship Project from the American University in Dubai and obtaining a Master of Arts with Distinction in Advertising Branding and Communication from the University of West London.
