Maja Lazic

Maja Lazic is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in protection, education, and partnerships within the realm of forced displacement, primarily at UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. Since September 2016, Maja has held multiple leadership roles, including Deputy Head of the World Bank-UNHCR Joint Data Center on Forced Displacement, Deputy Representative (Protection), Senior Education Officer, and Senior Private Sector Partnerships Officer. Maja's prior roles at UNHCR include Senior Protection Officer, where strategic direction for protection activities was ensured across various contexts, and Donor Relations Officer, focused on developing sustainable relationships with regional development banks. With foundational experience starting from 1998, Maja has also served in legal and advisory capacities at both UNHCR and OHCHR, contributing to the protection and rights of refugees and asylum seekers globally. Maja holds a Master’s Degree in International Public Law from the University of Copenhagen.
