Mariam Kakkar

Mariam Kakkar has a significant amount of experience working in the United Nations system. Mariam began their career with UNICEF in 2003, serving as a Learning Technology Specialist until 2006. Mariam then moved to UNFPA, where they worked as an HR Specialist in Career and Learning from 2006 to 2010. From 2010 to 2015, Mariam held the position of HR Manager at UNICEF, focusing on Senior Talent Management and later on Leadership and Management. In 2016, they joined UNDP as the Chief of the Talent Development Unit, where they remained until 2020. Most recently, Mariam has been working at UNHCR as the Head of the Global Learning & Development Center.

Mariam Kakkar holds a Ph.D. in Educational Technology from Concordia University, which they obtained from 2001 to 2009. Prior to their Ph.D., they completed their Master of Education degree at Concordia University from 1998 to 2001. Mariam began their education journey at Western University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from 1994 to 1998.
