Gopal Mitra

Gopal Mitra is an experienced professional specializing in disability inclusion and development. Currently serving as the Global Lead for Disability and Development at UNICEF since December 2022, Gopal provides strategic and technical leadership to further the organization's commitments to disability inclusion. Prior to this role, Gopal was the Senior Social Affairs Officer and Disability Inclusion Team Lead at the Executive Office of the United Nations Secretary General from August 2019 to December 2022, where leadership in implementing the United Nations Disability Inclusion Strategy was a key focus. Gopal's extensive experience includes previous positions at UNICEF as a Program Specialist for Children with Disabilities, as well as roles at Leonard Cheshire Disability and the Indian Army. Academic qualifications include a Master of Science in Development Management from The London School of Economics and Political Science, a Masters in Social Work from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata.
