Thorodd Ommundsen

Thorodd Ommundsen is an experienced professional in international development and emergency response, currently serving as an Emergency Specialist and Deputy Global Education Cluster Coordinator at UNICEF since February 2020. Ommundsen has a robust history within UNICEF, having previously worked as a Project Coordinator for the Global Education Cluster, and a commitment to emergency education amidst challenging global contexts. Prior to UNICEF, Ommundsen held various roles within United Nations missions, including Special Assistant to the Special Representative of the Secretary-General in South Sudan and Security Sector Reform Coordination Officer, where strategic advice on security reform was provided across multiple peacekeeping missions. Ommundsen began a career focused on advocacy and communication at organizations such as the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Fellesrådet for Afrika, complemented by solid academic credentials including a Master’s in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
