Carlos Melendez P.e.

Carlos Melendez, P.E. has a strong background in engineering and construction management. Carlos currently holds the position of Associate Vice President at UNICO Engineering, Inc., where they started in 2023. Prior to this role, they served as a Senior Associate at the same company since 2020. Carlos also has experience in academia, working as an Adjunct Instructor at City College of San Francisco since 2013. Carlos is responsible for teaching students about different aspects of Construction Management and developing course curriculum. In addition, Carlos is a Board Member at the Martinez Unified School District, a role they began in 2021. Earlier in their career, Carlos worked at Ghirardelli Associates as a Project Manager and Resident Engineer from 2012 to 2020. Carlos was responsible for managing on-site activities, coordinating with clients, and ensuring projects were completed on time and within budget. Carlos also served as a Project Manager at Condon-Johnson & Associates, Inc. from 2004 to 2012, specializing in shoring and foundation heavy civil contracting. Carlos Melendez, P.E. has a diverse educational background in civil engineering and liberal arts. Carlos holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Construction Engineering & Geotechnical from San Jose State University. Carlos completed this program from 2009 to 2011.

Carlos also has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil Engineering, with a focus on Structural and Geotechnical Engineering, from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo. Carlos earned this degree from 1997 to 2000.

Prior to their bachelor's degree, Carlos attended Saddleback College from 1992 to 1997, where they earned an Associate of Arts (AA) and an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Liberal Arts & Science.

In addition to their academic achievements, Carlos has obtained certain certifications related to their field. In August 2011, they became a Qualified SWPPP Practitioner and Developer (QSP/QSD), receiving certification from the California Stormwater Quality Association. Furthermore, in April 2005, Carlos obtained the Professional Civil Engineer certification from the State of California.
