Cole Belmont

Director, Makerspace Consortium at Union College

Cole Belmont is the current Director of Makerspace Consortium at Union College. Prior to this, Cole was an Adjunct Professor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where they developed curriculum and taught graduate and undergraduate courses in digital fabrication. Cole has also worked as an Operations Manager at Consortium for Research & Robotics, Pratt and as a CNC and Robotics Shop Manager at Pratt Institute. In their role as Program Coordinator at STEP (Science Technology Entry Program), Cole introduced 3D modeling and digital to physical workflows with software including but not limited to Rhinoceros and Grasshopper and various CAM packages. Cole instructed students on basic and advanced digital modeling, encompassing NURBS and Mesh modeling as well as more sophisticated techniques such as scripting and use of various plug-ins and add on software. Cole taught digital to physical work flows and machine operations which enabled students to leverage advanced digital fabrication technology to create sophisticated physical objects and architectural investigations.

Cole Belmont has a Masters Degree in Architecture and Urban Design from Pratt Institute as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Planning from The University of New Mexico.

They are on a team with Joanne Fitzgerald - Director of Leadership in Medicine & Combined Health Degree Programs, Carol Cichy - Assistant to the Dean of Academic Departments & Programs, and Kathy Basirico - Assistant to the Dean of Academic Departments & Programs. Cole Belmont reports to Jennifer Fredricks, Dean of Academic Departments & Programs.
