Angel S. Fernandez-Bou is a Western States Senior Climate Scientist at the Union of Concerned Scientists since February 2023 and a Scientist at the University of California, Merced, since July 2015. Work at the university encompasses projects with the Sierra Nevada Research Institute and the Water Systems Management Group, focusing on sustainability, groundwater recharge optimization, and environmental justice. Angel has held various academic roles, including Lectures in Spatial Analysis and Engineering Economic Analysis, a position as a Graduate Dean’s Dissertation Fellow, and experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. Prior professional experience includes modeling engineering at Statkraft and WX Energy, investment consulting, and strategic business consulting. Angel holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from the University of California, Merced, a Master's degree in Biological/Biosystems Engineering from Universidade Federal Fluminense, and an Engineer’s degree in Agricultural Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.
