Michael McGarvey

Michael McGarvey started their work experience in 2007 at Unionville High School as a 9-12 Learning Support teacher. Michael developed and implemented individualized education programs for special education students, identified and implemented goals tailored to their needs, and established rapport with staff, students, and parents. In 2009, they joined the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District as a District Autistic Support Coach, actively supporting general education teachers and support staff with strategies for working with students on the Autistic Spectrum. Michael implemented curriculum and diverse methods through technology to promote active learning, including individualized social skill instruction and problem-solving. In 2021, they transitioned to the role of Technology Specialist & Integrator at Chadds Ford Elementary School.

Michael McGarvey has an extensive education history that spans several institutions and fields of study. Michael began their educational journey at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, where they earned a Bachelor of Education (BEd) degree in Special Education and Teaching. Michael then went on to pursue a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree in Educational Leadership and Administration at Cabrini University.

Continuing their educational pursuits, Michael obtained an Autism Certification from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in 2016, specializing in Special Education and Teaching. In 2017, they attended The University of the Arts and completed their Masters in Educational Technology.

In 2019, Michael obtained a STEM Certificate from Newman University, further expanding their knowledge in the field of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. Most recently, in 2021, they completed a Certificate program in Education/Teaching of the Gifted and Talented at Millersville University of Pennsylvania.

In addition to their formal degrees and certificates, Michael McGarvey has obtained several additional certifications. Michael became a Level 1 Google Certified Educator in August 2019, and they achieved the status of an \uf8ff Apple Teacher in January 2017. Moreover, they hold certifications in Buisness, Education, Information and Technology from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, obtained in August 2021, as well as a Technology Education K-12 certification from the same institution, obtained in August 2015.
