Eric Weiss

Associate Director - QC Analytical Support at uniQure

Eric Weiss has a diverse work experience in the biotech and pharmaceutical industry. Eric started their career at Tufts Medical Center as a Senior Research Assistant, where they conducted research on signal transduction pathways in acute biliary pancreatitis and assisted with animal care for myocardial infarction studies. Eric then joined the University of Massachusetts as a Graduate Student, focusing on their research on immune response to EBV infection and developing diagnostic platforms for disease identification. After completing their graduate studies, Eric worked as a Post Doctoral Associate/Project Team lead at the University of Massachusetts, managing a project team investigating immune response to EBV infection and establishing collaborative relationships with industry startups. Eric then joined MilliporeSigma, where they served as a Senior Scientist in Virology and Microbiological Sciences, specializing in mammalian viruses and designing viral clearance studies for gene therapy manufacturing. Eric also managed a team as a Manager in Downstream Processing and Viral Vector Analytics, successfully launching a lentivirus manufacturing template. Currently, they are an Associate Director at uniQure, where they collaborate with QC Technical Support testing groups, provides analytical support for gene therapeutic products, and manages direct reports. Eric has demonstrated leadership skills, subject matter expertise in product quality attribute methods, and a track record of successful project management and innovation.

Eric Weiss received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biology, General from Rhode Island College. Eric then went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in HIV Biology from UMass Chan Medical School, completing their studies between 2007 and 2012.
