Ying Poi Liu

Director Adult Neurology, Research at uniQure

Ying Poi Liu has a diverse work experience. They started their career as an intern at VU Medical Center in 2002 and then undertook another internship at the same institution in 2003. In 2004, they had an internship at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. Following this, they joined the Academic Medical Center where they worked as a PhD student from 2005 to 2009 and later as a post-doc from 2009 to 2013. From 2013 to 2017, they worked as a Scientist at UniQure NV. In 2017, they joined uniQure as a Senior Scientist, leading a team engaged in discovering new therapeutic targets in liver programs. They progressed within the organization and held the position of Associate Director Adult Neurology, Research from 2020 to 2022. Currently, they serve as Director Adult Neurology, Research at uniQure.

Ying Poi Liu has a strong educational background. In 1993, they attended Christelijke Scholengemeenschap Pascal where they studied English, Dutch, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics B, Biology, and Latin. After completing their Gymnasium degree, they pursued a Master of Science in Oncology at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) from 1999 to 2004. Following this, they went on to obtain a PhD from the University of Amsterdam between 2005 and 2009, specializing in RNAi-based gene therapy against HIV-1. In 2010, Ying Poi Liu briefly attended the Biobusiness Summer School.
