James Atherton has over 20 years of professional experience in human resources. James started their career as a Human Resources Consultant at Pink Roccade Australia Pty Ltd where they provided IT Service Management consulting and outsourcing services. James then became the National HR Manager at Cosmos Limited, overseeing all HR services for the company's four subsidiaries. James later worked as an HR Business Partner at Aon Risk Services before joining Insight Investment as an HR Business Partner, managing HR service provision for various departments. James then moved to Threadneedle Investments as an HR Business Partner for the Distribution and IT functions across the UK and Europe. James worked as the Human Resources Manager at Trafigura, responsible for HR in the EU region. James also served as an Interim HR Business Partner at RBS Global Banking & Markets. James then joined Guild Group as an HR Business Partner and HR Operations Manager, overseeing the central HR operations and acting as a business partner for the superannuation business. James'smost recent role is the Lead People Partner at UniSuper.

James Atherton completed their Bachelor of Arts and Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Psychology at Monash University from 1993 to 1996, focusing on Psychology and Human Resources. In 2012, they pursued a Masters in Psychotherapy and Counselling, with a specialization in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy, at the Cairn Millar Institute. James also obtained a European Coaching certification from ITS - NLP, a NLP Master Practitioner certification from ITS - NLP, and a MBTI certification from OPP. Additionally, they received training as an OPQ Assessor from SHL.
