Erica Dollhopf

Director, Center For Analytics, Research & Development, And Data (cardd) at United Church of Christ

Erica Dollhopf has a diverse work experience spanning different organizations and roles. Starting in 2010, they worked as a PhD candidate at Penn State University, where they conducted research on the formalization and professionalization of the U.S. advocacy organizational sector. Erica also served as a research assistant to John McCarthy during this time. In 2013, Erica worked as an Editorial Associate at Contemporary Sociology. In 2016, they joined The Association of Religion Data Archives (ARDA) as a Senior Research Associate, where they worked until 2018. During their time at ARDA, they gained expertise in research and data analysis. In 2017, Erica took up the role of Visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology of Religion at Hartford Seminary, and in 2018, they became the Director of the Center for Analytics, Research & Development, and Data (CARDD) at the United Church of Christ. In addition, they have also held the position of Adjunct Professor of Sociology of Religion at Hartford Seminary. Erica's work experience highlights their expertise in research, data analysis, and sociology of religion.

Erica Dollhopf completed their education in a chronological order. Erica first attended the University of Pittsburgh from 2002 to 2006, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree with a major in Political Science and Rhetorical Communication. Following this, they pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in American Studies at Lehigh University from 2008 to 2010.

Dollhopf then enrolled at Penn State University, where they earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Sociology in 2011. Erica continued their studies at Penn State and completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Sociology with a specialization in Organization and Social Movements in 2016. As part of their doctoral program, they also pursued a minor in Social Theory.

In terms of additional certifications, Dollhopf obtained an Executive Certificate in Religious Fundraising from the Lake Institute on Faith & Giving, Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy in February 2022.
