Wendy Brightman is the President of UMRC Foundation & Porter Hills Foundation at United Methodist Retirement Communities. Prior to their current role, Wendy served as the Managing Director of Ele's Place, a regional non-profit organization. Wendy was responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the organization, which included 100+ volunteers, a local community Board, and nine employees. Wendy was also responsible for donor cultivation, staff development, budget management, ensuring compliance to internal controls, database management, accounts payable, correspondence with donors and community leaders, and several levels of reporting.
Wendy was successful in managing the fast-growing organization, whose service levels and budget more than doubled over the three years they were with the company. Wendy played an integral role in co-creating and managing the strategic plan goals and objectives. Wendy has a proven track record of nurturing and increasing financial support from a large base of individual donors. Wendy also solicited and secured major gifts of $50,000 or more. Additionally, Wendy identified matching funds sources from private foundations and individual donors.
Wendy also architected a comprehensive community awareness and visibility outreach program. Wendy developed a highly regarded and deeply engaged Community Board of local business leaders. Wendy also attracted, trained, and retained a highly skilled team of paid employees and volunteers. Wendy promoted and supported continual professional development, feedback model and coaching. Wendy also supervised the weekly delivery of programming, which included volunteer recruitment, training, and oversight; participation management;
Wendy Brightman has a Masters in Management and Leadership from Spring Arbor University. Wendy also has a B.A. in Political Science - International Studies, German from Bowling Green State University. Wendy is also a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) from CFRE International and a Certified Fund Raising Management (CFRM) from Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.
