Bradford Smith serves as a Human Rights Officer (Lawyer) at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) since August 2010. Prior to this role, Bradford Smith held various positions within the United Nations from 1995 to 2010, including Legal Officer in the Legal Affairs Unit of the UN Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste, Deputy Chief of the Treaty Section, and Legal Officer in the Treaty Section of the Office of Legal Affairs. Bradford Smith earned a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Law and Legal Studies from Georgetown University Law Center (1991-1993), a Doctor of Law (JD) from American University Washington College of Law (1987-1990), and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Political Science and Government from Boston College (1982-1986).
