Shafferan S. is a seasoned human rights professional currently serving as a Human Rights Officer at the United Nations Human Rights since September 2019, following a role as an Associate Human Rights Officer. Prior experience includes several positions at the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, where Shafferan held roles from Acting Program Support Advisor to Research Officer. Shafferan also contributed as the Global Advocacy Director for Muslims for Progressive Values, leading the #ImamsForShafferan initiative, and worked as a consultant with the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom. Early career experiences include internships with UNHCR and the South African Human Rights Commission, among others. Shafferan holds a Master's Degree in International Laws from Maastricht University, an Honours Bachelor's degree in Global Studies from Wilfrid Laurier University, and a Basic Pastry Certificate from Le Cordon Bleu Paris.
