Niels Vestergaard Knudsen

Niels Vestergaard Knudsen has a diverse and extensive work experience history. Their most recent position was as Chief, External Relations and Communications at the United Nations Volunteers since May 2023. Prior to that, they worked at UNDP in various roles, including Deputy Resident Representative in Kosovo, Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei Darussalam. Niels also served as the Resident Representative a.i., and held positions as a Policy Specialist, Team Leader for South-South Cooperation Policy, and Program Management Specialist. Before joining UNDP, they worked as a Programme Officer at DanChurchAid, focusing on HIV/AIDS programs. Additionally, they worked as a Project Coordinator at the International Medical Cooperation Committee and as an Assistant at DanChurchAid. Throughout their career, Knudsen has demonstrated a strong commitment to international development and building strategic partnerships.

Niels Vestergaard Knudsen holds a Certificate in Tropical Medicine Course from Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, which they obtained in 2004. Prior to that, they completed their Master of Arts degree in International Development Studies and History at Roskilde University from 1999 to 2004. Niels also obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in International Development Studies and History from Roskilde University from 1997 to 1999.

In addition to their formal education, Niels has also obtained additional certifications. Niels completed the Foundations of The Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) certification from LinkedIn in 2019. In 2014, they acquired the Organizational Analysis certification from Stanford University through the online platform Coursera.
