Matthew Parkes

Program Officer, Afghanistan & Central Asia at United States Institute of Peace

Matthew Parkes is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in conflict resolution and peacebuilding, currently serving as a Senior Program Specialist for Afghanistan and Central Asia at the United States Institute of Peace since April 2018, having previously held various roles including Program Specialist and Senior Program Assistant. Prior to this, Matthew served as a Special Assistant to the Chairman at AG International Law and worked as a Research Assistant at PeaceTech Lab, contributing to projects aimed at using technology for local peacebuilding initiatives. Additional roles include serving as a Conflict Resolution Expert at Buffaloe Global Development Corp., and gaining valuable experience as an intern through the Georg Arnhold Program at the Georg-Eckert-Institut. Matthew holds a Master’s degree in Conflict Resolution from Georgetown University and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Keene State College.
