Sugarcane Variety Scientist at United States Sugar

Everton Barreto has a comprehensive background in sugarcane research and breeding. Everton began their career at CanaVialis S.A. in 2003, where they established a crossing station and managed a germplasm bank for sugarcane breeding. Everton also conducted research on transgenic plants and collaborated with government inspectors. In 2011, Everton joined Monsanto Company as a Breeder I, responsible for breeding and managing the germplasm bank. Everton then worked at Texas A&M University as an Associate Research Scientist, overseeing sugarcane and energy cane procedures and improving breeding programs. Everton furthered their research at LSU AgCenter as a Research Associate in 2015, before joining U.S. Sugar Corp as a Sugarcane Variety Scientist in 2016. Everton has a strong expertise in sugarcane breeding and a proven track record in managing and improving breeding programs.

Everton Barreto completed their education with a degree in Agronomy, specifically focusing on Genetics, from Universidade Federal de Alagoas. Everton pursued this MSc. degree from 2002 to 2004. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Agronomy Engineering from the same university, studying from 1997 to 2002. Everton's education journey began with an Agricultural Technician degree from Escola Agrotecnica Federal Satuba, where they studied Agriculture from 1994 to 1996.
