Tonya Adair

Tonya Adair has a diverse work experience, with their most recent position being at the United Way for Southeastern Michigan, where they have held various leadership roles since 2018. These roles include Chief Development, Diversity & Engagement Officer, Chief People, Equity, & Engagement Officer, and Chief Impact Officer. Prior to their time at United Way, they worked at Milwaukee Public Schools, starting as a Teacher in 1997 and progressing to roles such as Learning Coordinator/Curriculum Administrator, Assistant Principal, Principal, and ultimately Chief Innovation & Information Officer and Chief Academic Officer. In addition, they served as a Teacher Recognition Gala Co-Chair at MMABSE and worked as a K-1st Grade Teacher at Ouachita Parish Schools from 1993 to 1997.

Tonya Adair completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Elementary Education and Teaching from Grambling State University in 1992. Tonya then pursued a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Alverno College from 2000 to 2003. In 2002, they also obtained a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Education Director of Instruction from the same institution. Later, in 2010 to 2011, they earned a Business Certification in Human Resources Management and Services from Cardinal Stritch University. Additionally, Tonya Adair completed a NISL Certification in School Leadership from the National Institute for School Leadership in 2013 and 2014. Tonya is currently a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) candidate in Language and Literacy at Cardinal Stritch University, with an expected completion date of 2019. In 1986 and 1987, they attended the University of Louisiana Monroe for Computer Information Systems, but no degree information is provided for that time period.
