Tamiya Aurel has extensive work experience starting from 1996. Tamiya worked at Thresholds, where they fulfilled various HR functions, including recruiting and onboarding employees. At Target, they served as a Human Resource Executive, overseeing HR deliverables and processes. Later, at Fresenius Medical Services, they worked as an Employee Relations Manager, supporting a large employee population and providing coaching and guidance to field management. Tamiya then joined CNA Insurance as a Sr. Employee Relations Consultant, where they were responsible for providing advisement and HR support to a diverse group of employees. Currently, they hold the position of Chief People & Equity Officer at United Way of Metro Chicago, where they oversee human resources, diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Tamiya's experience includes conducting investigations, interpreting HR policies, and facilitating training programs.
Tamiya Aurel holds a Bachelor's Degree in Allied Health Diagnostic, Intervention, and Treatment Professions from Northern Illinois University. In addition, they have obtained several certifications including a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education in May 2021, a SHRM-CP certification from SHRM in October 2015, and a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from HR Certification Institute - HRCI in June 2010.
