Sarah Emmert

Director of Community Impact at United Way of Santa Cruz County (CA)

Sarah Emmert has had a diverse range of work experiences. Sarah started their career as the Mentor Program Coordinator at Cabrillo College from 2007 to 2009. Sarah then worked as the Prison Project Coordinator at Santa Cruz Barrios Unidos from 2010 to 2014. In 2014, they became the Public Policy Manager at the Homeless Services Center for a brief period of time. Later in 2014, they joined the United Way of Santa Cruz County as a Community Coordinator and eventually became the Director of Community Impact in 2016. Sarah is currently leading the Community Impact team and overseeing various projects focused on youth leadership development and improving community safety. From 2012 to 2016, they served as a Commissioner on the Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Commission. In 2015, they were part of the Executive Steering Committee for Strengthening Law Enforcement Community Relations grant at the California Board of State and Community Corrections, where they played a role in promoting equity and trust between law enforcement and communities. Overall, Sarah has demonstrated a strong commitment to community development and social justice throughout their career.

Sarah Emmert pursued their education in a chronological manner, starting with their time at Cabrillo College from 2005 to 2009. Here, they obtained an Associates degree with a focus on Communications & Psychology. Sarah then went on to the University of California, Santa Cruz where they earned their Bachelors degree between 2009 and 2011. Sarah'sfield of study here was Social Psychology. Finally, from 2013 to 2015, Sarah attended UC Irvine where they completed their Masters of Advanced Study in Criminology, Law & Society.
