Anusia Gillespie

SVP, Enterprise Solutions at UnitedLex

Anusia Gillespie is currently the SVP, Enterprise Solutions at UnitedLex. Anusia has over 20 years of experience as a lawyer and has held various leadership positions in the legal field.

Anusia started their career as a lawyer at Eversheds Sutherland. Anusia quickly rose through the ranks and became the Global Co-Head of Innovation (US). In this role, they were responsible for setting the strategic direction for the company, building out the innovation function, and working with clients and across practice groups to design, develop, and deliver new legal solutions.

During their time at Eversheds Sutherland, they led an international listening tour to gather data and understand mindsets, existing resources, reasons for change, cultural alignment and dissonance, and prior and concurrent efforts. Anusia also presented to the Global and US Executive Committees and Boards, receiving approval on strategy, roadmap with related metrics, and a framework to orient the firm to innovation as broader than the implementation and adoption of software.

Anusia formalized the innovation function that, in addition to reporting, financial forecasting, vendor negotiations, and cost discipline, was responsible for eliciting and cultivating client-oriented problem and opportunity definitions; prioritizing whether or not to invest resources in solving or exploiting the defined areas; and inventorying best and cutting-edge tools and providers to ensure teams use and build the best possible creative solutions.

Some of the new resources they built and delivered include The Spoliation Scientist, a proprietary data analytics and risk mitigation tool used to identify relevant spoliation cases in seconds; digital trainings given increased evidentiary burdens from the DOJ’s Compliance Guidelines; and a Data Science in Legal Practice CLE leading to an IP use case where they found a 90% cost savings.

Anusia Gillespie received their Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School, their Master of Business Administration from the Boston College Carroll School of Management, and their Bachelor of Science in Management with a concentration in Legal Studies in Business from Tulane University's A.B. Freeman School of Business. Anusia also holds a diploma from Tabor Academy and is a certified attorney by the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers of the Supreme Judicial Court.

They are on a team with Cara Hughes - SVP, Business Development, Jessica Castile - Director, Sales & Strategy, and Ryan Reeves - SVP, Chief Client Officer, Litigation and Regulatory. Anusia Gillespie reports to Daniel Reed, CEO & Board Member.
