Location:  Scotts Valley, CA (Preferred) OR Hybrid*

The Senior Payroll Accountant will work to ensure our payroll expenses and taxes are paid correctly and on time. Our ideal candidate is analytical and methodical, with experience in payroll administration, and has a deep knowledge of payroll regulations. The goal will be to ensure our payroll procedures are compliant, efficient, and current.  They will provide excellent support to team members and assist with any implementation project as appropriate while providing solutions to issues and problems, as they arise.  They will also support our AR Accountant.  

Responsibilities:

  • Understand US payroll and accounting best practices.
  • Provide payroll tax guidance and expertise.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records as well as create programs and processes to ensure statutory compliance.
  • Research, analyze, resolve any payroll discrepancies, and change processes to prevent future discrepancies.
  • Ensure accurate taxation of employees, respond to tax notices, as well as resolve any discrepancies.
  • Serve as the point of contact for US employee inquiries, including promptly responding to questions and requests.
  • Validate time-keeping records and resolve discrepancies.
  • Able to detail and document payroll procedures.
  • Support Month-End Closing including but not limited to accruals, re-classes, and fluctuation analysis.
  • Willing to back up the A/R Accountant when needed.
  • Ad-hoc projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas.
  • Excellent skills using Excel.
  • Experience with ADP required.
  • Experience with NetSuite preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise extreme discretion, and handle sensitive information.
  • Excellent problem-solving/judgment skills, and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in the Finance/Payroll profession.

UA Salary Range/Hourly Rate of Pay:  California Salary Range = $125K - $135K

Base salary/hourly rate of pay will be based on the cost of labor for the city/state in which the new hire resides, at the time of hire.
