Joaquín Vicuña del Río

Joaquín Vicuña del Río is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in the mining, energy, and environmental law sectors. Currently serving as Legal Manager at JX Nippon Mining & Metals since May 2024, Joaquín has held various prominent roles, including Corporate Senior Legal Counsel at SCM Minera Lumina Copper Chile and Chief Legal Counsel at the Ministry of Finance in Chile. As a part-time lecturer at Universidad Finis Terrae, Joaquín teaches courses on funding for mining exploration projects and has previously taught at Universidad Mayor. Joaquín's educational background includes a Master’s Degree in Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources Law from the University of Dundee and several postgraduate diplomas focusing on energy and natural resources law and tax law.
