Virginia Mika

Deputy Vice President Public Health And Community Programs at University Health

Virginia Mika has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and companies. Virginia began their career in 1991 as a Social Science Research Associate at UTHSCSA, where they worked until 2003. In 2004, Mika joined UTHSCSA again, this time as an Associate Director. Virginia then transitioned to University Health in 2010, where they held the position of Executive Director until 2020. Following that, they became the Deputy Chief Analytics Officer, Community Programs until 2022. Currently, Mika serves as the Deputy Vice President of Public Health and Community Programs at University Health.

Virginia Mika earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Trinity University from 1988 to 1991. Virginia then pursued a Master of Public Health degree in Community Health at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston) from 1992 to 1993. Continuing their education, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Culture, Literacy, and Language from The University of Texas at San Antonio from 2003 to 2007.
