David Mitchell

David Mitchell, Ph.D., currently serves as an Associate Professor at the University of Central Florida, with a tenure home in the Materials Science and Engineering Department and a joint appointment in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department. As a resident expert in extreme environment materials, processing, and advanced manufacturing, David has a distinguished background that includes a courtesy faculty appointment at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and experience as a Senior R&D Materials Scientist, where responsibilities included the development of advanced materials for energy and aerospace applications. Previous positions held by David include technical roles at Pratt & Whitney, Siemens, Boeing, and GE Global Research, contributing significantly to the development of composite materials and coatings for aerospace and energy sectors. David holds a Ph.D. and a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Florida.
