Freya Blekman is a distinguished physicist and professor currently serving at the University of Hamburg and DESY, where involvement in the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at CERN is a primary focus. Since October 2021, Freya has also held the position of lead scientist at DESY and visiting professor at the University of Oxford's Department of Physics. With a robust background in particle physics, Freya has contributed significantly to the CMS collaboration since the early stages of its development at Imperial College London, as well as working on top physics at prominent institutions including the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory and NIKHEF. Freya obtained a PhD in Physics from the University of Amsterdam in 2005, preceded by an MSc in Physics from the same institution.
