Wendy Burns-Ardolino is the current Dean of the College of Humanities & Social Sciences at University of Houston-Downtown. Wendy has also served as the Director of the Professional Master's in Social Innovation at Grand Valley State University from August 2011 to May 2021. Prior to that, they were the Director of the Office of Interdisciplinary Studies & Associate Professor at Clayton State University from July 2005 to July 2011.
Before their role at Clayton State University, Wendy was an Instructor & Librarian at University of South Carolina-Beaufort from August 2004 to July 2005. From August 2001 to December 2003, they were an Instructor for Women's Studies at George Mason University. Additionally, Wendy has been an Adjunct Instructor for Composition & Literature at Northern Virginia Community College from May 1998 to December 2001 and an ESL Instructor at English Now! from May 1997 to August 1999.
Wendy's professional journey began in December 1993 when they became the Membership Director for the Young Astronauts Council until August 1997. From May 1997 to August 1999, they were also an Adjunct Instructor for Developmental Writing at Montgomery County Community College.
Wendy Burns-Ardolino has a PhD in Cultural Studies/Critical Theory and Analysis from George Mason University, an MA in English with a focus on Teaching Writing & Literature also from George Mason University, and a BA in International Politics & Philosophy from the University of Hull. Wendy also has a degree in Government & International Politics from the University of South Carolina.
