Kathy Barnard

Kathy Barnard serves as the Assistant Vice President of Alumni Relations and Advancement Communications at the University of Idaho, a role held since January 2016. Prior to this, Barnard was the Executive Director of University Communications at Washington State University from October 2012 to January 2016, overseeing central communications functions including marketing, design, editorial activities, and public records. Barnard also held the position of Director of Marketing and News Services at Washington State University Extension from May 2007 to October 2012, managing communications and marketing for the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences. Earlier roles include Senior Public Relations/Communications Coordinator for Washington State University College of Agricultural from February 2005 to May 2007 and Director of Communications at the University of Idaho from June 1991 to February 2005, focusing on media relations and crisis communications. Barnard began a career in journalism as a news reporter and business editor at the Lewiston Tribune from 1981 to 1991 and holds a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Idaho.
