Maia is the Founder and CEO of Lariat Wealth Management, an independent wealth management firm that provides comprehensive, customized financial guidance and investment management to individuals, families, and non-profits/foundations. Maia has over twenty years of experience in the finance and investment industry and is a CFA Charterholder. Maia spent the bulk of her career in institutional asset management as an equity research analyst for Janus Capital and Denver Investment Advisors, primarily covering financial, industrial, and consumer companies across market caps and geographies. Previously, she was a mergers and acquisitions investment banker at Green Manning and Bunch, Ltd., and an associate in Deutsche Bank Securities Inc.’s debt capital markets group in New York. In 2015 Maia moved to wealth management to have a more direct relationship with clients and founded Lariat Wealth Management in 2021.
Maia received her BA in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia and her MA in Law and Diplomacy (International Affairs) with a concentration in international economics and finance from The Fletcher School at Tufts University. Maia served as a commissioner for the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE) from 2015-2019, chaired the Fiscal Affairs and Audit Committee, and served on the Affordability and Funding Formula Allocation Model subcommittees. Maia was also elected to the Genesee Fire Protection District Board of Directors in 2018 and served as Treasurer for that organization and served on the Board of Directors of the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver.
